Try a Split Grip When Putting

If your hands seem to be fighting each other for dominance, try a split grip when putting…it will help relieve grip tension and enhance your ability to make a nice rhythmic stroke.

  1. I have been using a split grip (hands separated approximately two inches) for the last 3 or 4 years and my putting has improved dramatically. It took the wrist bending out for me and keeps me pivoting at the shoulders.

  2. It worked for me! I have tried left hand low and the claw without good results. While practicing at home I came across a 35 inch face balanced mallet – I usually use a 33 inch putter – and just out of nowhere tried the split grip. The improvement was instantaneous and has held up on the course under “friendly wager pressure”. It works for any length put. Great tip!
