I had always used the idea that hitting the ball so that if it missed, it went 18 inches past the cup, per the advice of another short game guru. Now I read that I may be missing some of those because, had the ball been going more slowly, it might have dropped in from the side of the hole. Perhaps this advice, hitting the back of the cup, would give me a better concept of the pace I need, than going 18 inches past if I miss. I’ll give it a try.
